I didn't mean to imply that he is playing at the "top player in the world" level any longer, I meant that he is still a top-flight player. He scored, what, 25 goals in 2009 for Barca as they won the Champions League. 2010 wasn't a great year for him to be sure. Still, I think that he could have had his choice of teams in the EPL, Serie A, etc. He's 32 and certainly trending down and the fact that he is also retiring from international play is significant. I'm not even sure that he will be the best player in the MLS, to be honest. But he is a top flight player and should have a solid couple years ahead of him.
