The NAACP had its yearly recently in Kansas City. One issue that got a lot
of attention was the NAACP's stance on the tea-party movement. There was an
attempt to pass a resolution that calls upon

“all people of good will to repudiate the racism of the Tea Parties, and to
stand in opposition to its drive to push our country back to the pre-civil
rights era.”

After criticism from black tea party members and negative press, a watered
down version of the resolution was passed.

Then comes Shirley Sherrod, USDA Georgia Director of Rural Development,
speaking at a NAACP event in GA. Shirley describes how a white farmer came
to her for help:

"He had to come to me for help. What he didn't know while he was taking all
that time trying to show me he was superior to me was I was trying to decide
just how much help I was going to give him. I was struggling with the fact
that so many black people have lost their farmland and here I was faced with
having to help a white person save their land -- so I didn't give him the
full force of what I could do. I did enough."

Oops. It looks like Shirley didn't realize that USDA is supposed to be
color blind. It also looks like the NAACP needs to do some house keeping.

There are rumors that Shirley has resigned.

As an aside, Shirley also encourages her audience to get jobs with the
government since the government never lays off people. Sound advice.
