This woman's real mistake was speaking publicly about intentional discrimination in her past that called into question her judgment. The bigger problem with the federal government is its huge size, complexity, overlapping work by multiple departments, lack of oversight at the project level and lack of coordination at both the project and strategic level. Contrary to popular opinion, the President does not run the federal government, it runs itself. The President hopefully is able to steer the bureaucracy in certain directions. The only real fear of a professional bureaucrat is getting into the media for some mistake (like Sherrod) or being summoned to Capitol Hill for a verbal beating by Congress. This lack of oversight is at the heart of what is wrong with the government. I continue to believe that dramatically increasing the number of elected officials in the House would serve to keep these people honest. Imagine how scared bureaucrats would be if they had to deal with 10,000 Reps instead of 435. People we elect would be digging into absolutely every aspect of the government's business. For those who have not been following my thoughts in this area, keep in mind that Congress already employs 15,000 people- most of them are just unelected staff who hold tremendous sway but never answer to the voters themselves. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology-Michael-Dinowitz/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:323211 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
