agreed - it gets a lotta sh*t, but it is a decent cms platform.  rapid, easy
to set up, customize, etc.

is it going to replace custom apps for most companies? no, but it will be
around for a long time for businesses and people who need a web presence on
the cheap.

hell, i make a nice side-living off coding custom themes for small marketing
shops.  easy-peasy work, and profitable.

just don't go thinking you're going to get 10,000 hits a day and expect the
site to stay stable from a server standpoint.  you'll need some caching
mechanisms.  it's not the best underlying code, but it is getting much much
better with time.
