as I've researched this further, I realize that I am pretty ignorant of what's 
going on in the php space.  

Interestingly enough, I'm in the middle of a project where I'm replacing a 
joomla site with a dedicated store done in rails.  I didn't even know what 
joomla was until I got this project.  

It was also kind of interesting telling the sysadmin that his site had been sql 
injected ;)
