We chose the week we are going because it is typically one of the
least busy times of the year (another nice side effect of
homeschooling - you can go on vacation whenever you want).

We have been before during other slow times and are trying to find the
'best' week. This is, however, the first time we will be driving (and
will be the longest 'road trip' I have ever been on).
