First off don't drive down. I'd check out the Autotrain from Lorton VA to Sanford FL - just outside Orlando. (seehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto_Train).
We did this about a year ago ad it worked out great. No stressful driving; dinner and breakfast were included in the fare and were pretty good. In the evening after 7pm, the lounge car shows movies mostly family type fair. But the drinks are pretty reasonable. There's a smoking room in the lower half of the lounge car. We decided just to use the coach seats overnight. They were not the most comfortable admittedly, but not bad. And more importantly the kids are not strapped in and generally are not bored. Overall the trip took overnight. We boarded the train at 3pm and arrived at 8 the next morning. We were on the road to the in-law's condo by 10:30. larry On Wed, Sep 29, 2010 at 11:47 PM, Scott Stroz <[email protected]> wrote: > > My wife and I decided today that after the shitty year we have had, we > all needed some time in the 'happiest place on earth' and are going to > Disney. > > We are going to drive (from the DC area) and I was hoping that some of > you might have some suggestions on places we can stop along the way - > either for quick sightseeing or a place to stay over night.
