Industrialized states are playing arbitrage with low-wage states, especially China and India. We're all guilty of it. The capitalist does it by investing in a business with factories and offices overseas, and everyone does it by purchasing the products and services of such companies. If the country really cared about where goods and services are sourced from, people would boycott companies that employ overseas labor. We could all simply decide to stop buying anything made in China, for instance. Are we going to? No, because we're all calculating that our personal gain will outweigh our personal cost for buying from low-wage states. What our personal calculations have failed to account for are the systemic risks of offshoring. Do we reach a tipping point where we move so many knowledge work and manufacturing jobs overseas that we lose these skill sets in our population? If we go that route, we are binding ourselves to the Chinese government, which is a bad idea, methink ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology-Michael-Dinowitz/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:328795 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
