Buyer's agent: Don't be afraid to interview several and choose the best fit,
if you're not sure about your buyers' agent, it'll be more difficult to
trust them when it comes time to talk terms. A buyers agent works for you,
is there to answer questions and explain all the little details about the
contract you are signing.

Shop around for mortgages.

When looking, don't be afraid to ask the hard questions; What did the seller
disclose about the property? Can I see the attic? How old [exactly] is the
roof, furnace, water heater?

Ask about a warranty.

And finally, this advice from my buyer's agent, "love the house, don't fall
*in* love with the house. You don't own it until you sign for it..."
