There is a lot of truth in this statement for me, but it's more that he was the anti-McCain. McCain sold out all his values and got in bed with the Religion Right to get elected, then picked Caribou Barbie as a running mate. Any candidate, even a dead skunk, would have been preferable to me than the ones on the Republican ticket in 2008.
It's a shame that we as a country cannot field candidates who are competent to do the job. Unfortunately, 2012 isn't going to be any better, and if the mid-terms are an indication, it's gonna be worse. Imagine a Newt/Barbie versus Obama/Hillary election.
