"My problem with a lot of the people who got elected this time around is
that they don't seem to have any real idea of how they would exercise
greater fiscal discipline and help control the size of government. If you
came to me with a plan that says, 'this is the cuts I'll pursue and the
related constraints it will place on federal government' I'd seriously
listen. Thus far I've just gotten hand waving rhetoric and promises of
'fiscal discipline'."

The great thing is that we will find out.

"Anyway, the new folks in Congress have the benefit of an economy that will
likely continue to gradually pick up steam. We'll see what they can do to
improve that and avoid another round of 'off with their heads!' by the
electorate."

The economy will probably pick up steam. That is why it is import to
deliver on the promises. It's easy to spend when things are going well.

The big question is, will the new blood live up to their promises, or just
be assimilated into the DC collective? If they are assimilated, will the
voters hold them accountable, especially if the economy is in recovery mode.
