My point, which you persist in missing, is that those who were
defeated or had very close races, were luckwarm in their support of
healthcare, and even in the case of Blanche Lincoln, opposed parts of
it, while those who actively supported it, like Pelosi, Boxer and
Reid, were reelected easily.

My source for their message is their website and statements, and the
websites and statements of the candidates they endorsed, or those
pundits who claim to speak for them. What source would you recommend?

No, it is because they cannot write checks until the budget passes and
the funds are distributed to the agencies.
