(1.) China and Russia. Neither of these countries agree, nor would endorse - and might not tolerate - any act of war on a sovereign country. Like it or not, Libya is sovereign country and taking out air defenses to establish a no-fly zone is by any measure an act of war. (2.) Who would we be fighting for / against? Who are the rebels? Freedom fighters or radicals? Nobody knows at this point and given that they've armed themselves and are actively fighting, this has become a civil war; i.e., you couldn't go in on humanitarian grounds. "You *never open your mouth* till you know what the shot is." (Jack Lemmon, Glengarry Glen Ross) (3.) Libya is a* *rentier economy. 98% of every business in that country comes from oil. You think Afghanistan and Iraq are tough? Whoa, this is one big messed up country and, as we've all learned, if you break it you buy it. BTW, it should be noted that your so-titled "Bush Doctrine" is actually the Truman Doctrine; which itself is actually a form of FDR's quarantine-the-aggressor doctrine. So you can thank the Democrats for anything you think is a good idea about what's happening in the Middle East. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:334917 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
