Neither the Civil Rights movement nor the Indian Freedom Movement were
totally non-violent.  But most of the violence in both cases was
directed at the protesters, and some of them fought back.  I don't
know enough about the Palestinian non-violence movement to speak to
the validity of it, but I know enough about recent history in that
area to know that the Israeli leadership, while perhaps not on the
level of Bull Conner or Lord Willingdon, is far from innocent of any
wrong doing toward the Palestinian peoples.
