how would an ID protect me against identity theft? Seems to me that
the major fact protecting me from that is disinterest in owning a
Playstation.

By the way: Since I was registering voters for the 2006 election and
the local Republicans raised such a stink about supposed voter fraud
that they (literally) made a federal case about it, I followed the
case to the bitter bitter end, which was not covered by most media,
let alone the Albuquerque Bush apologist rag. An extensive
investigation found absolutely no fraud, no votes cast improperly, no
wrongdoing, period. Unless you want to count the white-haired Navajo I
registered who forgot to check the box saying he was more than
eighteen years old....
