It's not that they need a demon to hate, it's that they need a demon to scare the masses so they can justify fund-raising and other revenue generation. Warmongers can't profit unless they can justify their wars. This is only one way that happens. I would be willing to bet the majority of the people who are forwarding emails and trembling in fear of Sharia Law could neither spell it or define it before these well funded campaigns started. Most of them still can't define it, but they sure are a frightened little bunch.
