They certainly are not the same thing. Science is based on facts, measurements, and observations. Religion (and I would lump mythology and cults into this category) is based on faith with little or no facts, measurements, or observations. In that way they are very much not the same thing. However, the origins of both science and religion seek to explain the unexplainable. Greek mythology saw the sun as the god Helios racing across the sky in his Chariot. This has been explained in another way by science. Cults like Scientology think aliens planted us here. Ultimately science may show some variation of this to be correct, who knows. Most major religions attempt to explain the origin of the universe, and continue to revise their belief system as science proves certain variations of their attempt right or wrong. They certainly don't belong side by side in the classroom as equals, but science and religion are inextricably linked. To some extent definitely competing. Helios would still be driving across the sky if not for science. -Cameron ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:342448 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
