Where did you hear that?  The bill was passed last week with the provisions
intact  since the republicans voted against removing the language from the
bill.  It is still on the presidents desk...

I found these short points about the Bill. It seems that it has changed a
bit:

* The bill no longer authorizes the indefinite military detention of
Americans captured in the US.
* The bill does mandate military detention for non-citizens.
* The bill "affirms" the 2001 Authorization to Use Military Force.
* Despite its flaws, the Senate version could provide some key oversight
over executive authority.
* Obama wouldn't be the first to veto a defense bill.
