What you are seeing right now is sort of a product of our weird political system, Rasta man.
IN order to be president, you first need to get the nomination from a party. That means playing to the 20-25% of ignorant douche bags on the right or left. So during these caucus periods, candidates always seem even more out of touch and ignorant....and make no mistake, some of them really are...but others are just playing an ugly game because they don't have any other choice. Obama and McCain were both good examples of this last cycle. McCain pretended to be a hard core conservative, and Obama pretended to be an ultra liberal...but the fact was that both of those guys were somewhat centric. The point is, there are probably a couple of really smart guys amongst these republicans who are just pretending to be ignorant, dipshit, racist asshole...because that's what they have to do. The trick is to try to pick out who those are.
