'The RIAA fired back that its also not good news for democracy. How can this be a positive development for a democracy where proposed changes to our federal laws should be based on an honest exchange of ideas?'
hahahahaha So many levels of hypocrisy... How can this be a positive development for a democracy where proposed changes to our federal laws should be based on an ... exchange of [distractions and a behind closed doors exchange of dollars]? Who exactly are these bills intended for? I don't think the public asked for them. Many don't even know there is an issue, or if they do, what it is about. On the face of it, the sponsors seem to be acting on behalf of the RIAA and MPAA. We have seen the even and fair response the RIAA has had when it comes to dealing with potential trademark infringement. Meanwhile, we have thousand and thousands in the internet community (the people in this case, I guess), screaming about how this is a bad idea and making it clear that they don't want this particular legislation. The reaction to this from supporters of the bills has been along the lines of "Relax guys. This is a good thing. We know what is best for you. Look over there! American Jobs!" The RIAA has stopped just short of calling those protesting liars and dissidents looking to undermine the American way of life. People are getting tired of this. They are getting tired of this and one day it's going to get a lot worse very quickly. On 1/17/2012 3:41 PM, Larry C. Lyons wrote: > > They won't.
