this sounds like when Wells Fargo was asking for five years of experience in a technology that had only existed for two. Their HR apparently kept offering bigger and bigger bonses to receuiters who could come up with someone with the right skills lol. I assume they eventually outsourced it and are shaking their heads to this day about American workforce readiness.
The key phrase (in that situation at least) was "do you have the reference number?" If it's different you can in good conscience tell them to go ahead and submit you, assuming you are in fact interestyed that is. I ran into someone from Wells Fargo at a Fex training session a couple of months later and he told me the company generally uses boilerplate in its vacancy announcements. And apparently doesn't check the wording too carefully....
