don't get a 30 dollar guitar. they aren't worth the money. But any
electric in the $120-150 range should do fine for the first few years.

my nephew advises to look at the esp ltd starter kit for around $200.
it comes with an amp and everything you need.

add on good headphones with a LONG cord so you wont need the aspirin.

he should be able to learn everything online, there are great lessons
from masters for free, that teach you the basics and the _reasons_ in
a very short timeframe.


(I dont play, although I have been learning the ukulele this summer.
so take the above with a grain of salt)

(and if you dont have an electronic mute for your daughter's trumpet,
order one immediately.)
