And you are doubly screwed if you have a preexisting condition. When
we had to search for our own insurance, it turned out that many would
not talk with us as soon as they found out I had diabetes. The only
insurance we could get was an expensive high risk plan. While no where
near perfect, the ACA exchanges will end up cutting our insurance
rates by half, still quite expensive but not a knife to the guts every
month.
