I disagree. A great many of the wealthy in this country come from family wealth built before all of these things were prevalent. A great many wealthy got that way through ideas they had themselves, and would have had without any of those things. People have found and worked mines and all sorts of things.
Also, we didn't pay for a lot of those things until 1917, before that the government was small enough to be self sufficient. The social contract didn't require that we extort our population.
