Because the "liberal" sticker is a death sentence for anyone needing to win
an election. It's not because liberalism is any better or worse than
conservatism, it's that the majority of voters are almost always
conservatives.

A true liberal can't really run solely on his or her ideas...not because
those ideas are inherently wrong or because most people disagree with those
ideas....but because many of the people who agree with them, will nod their
heads and say "hell yeah!", but then fail to show up on election day.

It's no mystery why democrats are always hoping for a high turnout, and
republicans want a low turnout. It's the same thing every four years: Will
liberals show up to the polls, or stay home?
