I think it's also its strength.  Much like the flexibility of the PC and not
being tied down to specific components...

My thoughts exactly.  It's a tiny computer with a phone built in and there
are a lot of options to choose from.  Use the one that works best for your
needs whether that is an iPhone, Android-based phone, or a Windows Mobile
type phone (or just a regular old flip-phone if that's what serves your
needs).  The way that the Android markets work and the fragmentation in the
ecosystem created by the carriers is a downside to Android, in my opinion,
but if that's not a deal-killer and you enjoy using it, great, use it.  I'll
use what works best for me and not justify it to anyone.  :)
