"The 2% decrease on FICA withholding was put in place in 2009, under this President. It was allowed to expire because neither side demanded it be retained. It had nothing to do with allowing the Bush era tax cuts to expire. Totally different issue. "
Who controlled the senate, house, and white house in 2009? Who elected these congressmen and president? Was this original temporary decrease not a consequence of the decision of voters? Do they have the right to bitch about it now? I say no. Step up and own it. "Even if Romney had won, the 2% FICA increase would have happened." And your point? People would have still made their decision. They would have chosen progressive with an R beside his name instead of a progressive with a D beside his name. they would have chosen the senators and representatives who did make the decrease permanent. They would still have to live with the results of the decision. By the way, it would be nice if someone have the cojones to challenge congress to make all tax changes permanent until congress votes to change it again. No automatic raises or decreases. Man up and make the decision. Anyway, I don't know if congressional R's would have been more bold in trying to prevent the automatic increase with a "R" in the White House, but I would not have been surprised if they did not. I keep reading about how the RINO's (Republicans in name only) are the ones who voted for the fiscal cliff deal. Whenever I see this, I counter with the following: These are not RINO's. This is what the Republican Party is now. It's the ones who voted against it who are actually RINO's. I'll leave you with a quote: "I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes." - Barack Obama J - Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote. - George Jean Nathan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:359735 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
