The Board of Directors of my Temple forms a search committee. The committee finds and interviews candidates. etc. I don't think the individual member families get to vote until it comes down to approving the contract. (IIRC) So, our only voting power would be to collectively turn down the proposed candidate, and kick it back to the search committee, I think.
IMHO that's more like rubber-stamping than voting, but they've done a good job picking candidates so far... -Ben > they are entitled to vote > > what percentage of people in the US elect their own religious leader? > > Lets take an impromptu poll: > > I do NOT elect a religious leader > Kevin DOES elect a religious leader > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Kevin Schmidt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Tuesday, June 18, 2002 12:33 PM > Subject: RE: Re: Are you Liberal or Conservative > > > > Except for the large part of the population that doesn't vote? > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: Beth F [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > > Sent: Tuesday, June 18, 2002 3:36 PM > > To: CF-Community > > Subject: Re: Re: Are you Liberal or Conservative > > > > you are one church > > how many people in the country are not represented by churches with > > elected > > officials. > > Most. > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Kevin Schmidt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Sent: Tuesday, June 18, 2002 12:27 PM > > Subject: RE: Re: Are you Liberal or Conservative > > > > > > > Funny....we as a congregation vote to decide who our Pastor is. > > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > From: Beth F [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > > > Sent: Tuesday, June 18, 2002 3:30 PM > > > To: CF-Community > > > Subject: Re: Re: Are you Liberal or Conservative > > > > > > The thing thats so great about government is that you get to vote who > > is > > > in > > > it.
