Jerry, you are applying rational consideration to what is an irrational process.
Pope isn't a "job" to the faithful...it's an appointment from God. To abdicate that is to turn away from a mission given by God, no matter the earthly reason. To suggest that Benedict knows better than God who should be Pope...is going to cause problems in that church. None of this makes any sense in the real world of course but, then, neither does religion....so....
