"To see how one would select a State/ Country religion, just look at Pakistan,
Saudi Arabia, Iran etc. I believe state religion etc. is codified in their
laws."

Many of the original states had official religions. They turned out okay.
I think you have to look at the religion.

Regardless, states moved away from official religion, but did not build a
wall between religion and state. Back to Pennsylvania's constituion:

No person who acknowledges the being of a God and a future state of rewards
and punishments shall, on account of his religious sentiments, be
disqualified to hold any office or place of trust or profit under this
Commonwealth.

Interestingly enough, the above statement does not seem to exclude
Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, or Satanists. It does exclude
Atheist.

I was wrong above as well. I said the above sentiment was on the books
until 1968. It's actually still on the books. It was in the 1968
Constitution, which is the current constitution. From the 1968 Version

*PREAMBLE*

WE, the people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, grateful to Almighty
God for the blessings of civil and religious liberty, and humbly invoking
His guidance, do ordain and establish this Constitution.

*Religious Freedom.*

*Section 3.*

All men have a natural and indefeasible right to worship Almighty God
according to the dictates of their own consciences; no man can of right be
compelled to attend, erect or support any place of worship, or to maintain
any ministry against his consent; no human authority can, in any case
whatever, control or interfere with the rights of conscience, and no
preference shall ever be given by law to any religious establishments or
modes of worship.

*Religion.*

*Section 4.*

No person who acknowledges the being of a God and a future state of rewards
and punishments shall, on account of his religious sentiments, be
disqualified to hold any office or place of trust or profit under this
Commonwealth.

Does Pennsylvania have a bunch or "religious nut jobs" since this is still
in their constitution?
