Why the background bill check failed:
http://www.businessinsider.com/why-background-check-bill-failed-2013-4
"The failure of the background check bill is baffling. The
bill<http://www.toomey.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=968>,
authored by two Senators with 'A' ratings from the NRA, would have extended
background checks to sales at gun shows and all Internet sales, while
exempting most private transactions between families and friends. (Under
the existing system, more than 40 percent of guns are purchased without a
background check.)

An overwhelming majority of Americans — 86 percent — support the
measure, according
to a *Washington Post*-ABC News poll released last
week<http://www.washingtonpost.com/page/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2013/04/16/National-Politics/Polling/release_226.xml>.
That number includes 90 percent of Democrats and 84 percent of Republicans,
with majorities in each group saying that they strongly support the
measure."

So crazy people, and/or criminals should be able to purchase guns at gun
shows and over the internet. Wow.
Baffling.

I'm coming around to the viewpoint that less guns in the public's hands
does equate to a reduction in gun violence, including gun suicide.
