"Your straw man slight of hand about corporate welfare means nothing as neither
Jerry nor I support it."

Amen.

I guess you were wondering where the hell that rant came from.

"Has welfare had a positive or negative out come in the end?"

Things is, I am not even completely against the idea of limited welfare. I
am against it as it is today. Surely there is a way to use limited welfare
to lift people up without building dependency.

I guess dependency is the goal. Good quotes on it from LBJ

“These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a
problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the
political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something
about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet
them down, not enough to make a difference.” - Lyndon B Johnson

I’ll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years. - Lyndon
B Johnson (Hearsay. Supposedly said to two governors on Air Force One)

Politicians are people who, when they see light at the end of the tunnel,
go out and buy some more tunnel. - John Q
