Jobs bill? What the hell will that do? How many did Dems present?
At his press briefing today, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) highlighted the House GOP plan for economic growth and job creation, contrasting it with President Obama's latest pivot back to jobs with his event in Austin, Texas today: "Today the president's on another jobs tour -- or as the media described it this morning -- his latest 'pivot back to jobs.' "Listen, the Obama administration promised that if its 'stimulus' plan was enacted, the unemployment rate today would be approximately five percent. But the unemployment rate is at 7.5 percent. What the president doesn't seem to understand is that it's his policies that are undermining economic growth and job creation. "Listen, I've run a small business, it's no surprise to me that the economy is struggling. We've had four years of slow, anemic economic growth and job growth. And frankly, it's unacceptable. "America desperately needs robust economic growth and job creation. Republicans have a plan for getting our economy moving again. You don't see us 'pivoting' back to it every few months; it's been our focus long before I became Speaker. And whether it's making our tax code simpler and fairer; expanding American energy production; reining in red tape; repealing the health care law that's making it harder for small businesses to hire, economic growth has been and will remain our biggest focus. "These are just some of the common-sense solutions that we would deliver that we really do believe would create more economic growth and jobs in our country.
