As far as I know most of those forfeitures are drug related. That happens
entirely based on State laws. Your state legislators voted to allow
departments to keeps the proceeds. You want it stopped you can try the
courts, or get enough people organized to change the mind of the
legislators.General whining about it doesn't help.
