It is quite sad how this issue is destroying the internet. Cloud companies estimate they have lost about 50m USD in business from overseas so far, and say they could lose even more.
Companies that provide secure or encrypted email services have closed entirely as they cannot operate within the United States. Almost everyone's data passes through the US at some point, so everyone falls victim to the blanket collection of information, with no clue as to how this information will be used in the future.
