Where in this article does it say one political party holding US to ransom? Here is a quote in case you missed this part:
On Capitol Hill there were signs only of the two sides digging into their respective corners, with the House Republican Conference having what several sources described as their best conference in months after Speaker John Boehners demands to gut Obamacare prompted the budget impasse. And at a private Democratic lunch in the Senates ornate Mansfield Room, speaker after speaker heaped praised on Reid for his no-compromise stand, attendees said. Notice the first sentence? Where it says "the two sides digging into their respective corners "? What's really going on is that the GOP does not want Obamacare fully funded right now. They are at the table waiting for the Dems to come and sit down to compromise. You have a Democratic POTUS who is threatening to veto ANY bill that does not fully fund Obamacare. You have Dems that are not willing to compromise. It seems that BOTH sides are holding the US hostage.
