Assuming it's authentic, I'd like to say I'm shocked and surprised, but I'm really not. I actually have people in my extended family who have this attitude. When my wife was on SSD several years ago her mother actually got on her case about going back to work (e.g. "If you go to work they'll take your SSD away, what are you thinking!!"). Her mother is on a variety of government programs in New Jersey. Her mother and people like her will try to suck every penny they can out of the system and then complain up a storm when anyone questions their way of life. In her mother's case, if she went to work it would be at a part-time minimum wage job and she'd likely lose more in government benefits than she would earn at the job (according to her), so she just sits on her arse and hangs out with her other welfare buddies in the neighborhood all day.
