I would go with at least Professional...Ultimate is even better. Pro and
Ultimate also have a lot of the server features. The drive config is good.
I did that when my drive crashed. Got an SSD for the OS and some of my more
intensive software packages and games and a 3TB sata drive for data. It is
amazing at how much faster my computer is.

Subject: new laptop

I'm on a new contract and it looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet
and get myself a new laptop. What I really need is knowledge as to what
features I should go for.

I'm thinking Windows 7 rather than 8, but what version of 7 do I go for?
standard, home, pro, etc? Whatever way I'll be going 64 bit which means I'm
looking at 8 or 12 gig of ram. Sound right?

I'm also thinking an SSD primary drive for the OS and a secondary 'normal'
drive for apps and all - or should I just get a standard drive and not worry
about SSD.

Any and all feedback, suggestions, tips, whatever is appreciated. I'm
currently living on an old Lenovo x61 that a good friend had given me. Its
been a life saver but is starting to show its age.

Thanks
Michael
