Indeed. I used to work with a guy who 'played' the market - not a day trader, he was trying to build a nest egg for when he retired (which was quite a big egg when he did retire). One thing he would frequently do is, when there was a dip in the market, he would invest more money in certain stocks or mutual funds. When they rebounded - which they almost always did, he would move some out to a more stable investment. He told me he made most of his money this way.
