Since the navigation of most sea animals is dependent on magnetic 
fields, I would look in the direction of changes of them first. Recent 
(i.e. last 3 years) undersea power cables etc. And didn't the magnetic 
North Pole recently leave Alaska and is drifting towards Siberia?
