It hits my "tenuous string of connected facts" nerve.

It reminds me of the scene in the Holy Grail, where the knight is conducting a trial:

What do we do with witches?
"We burn them".
What else burns?
Wood.
What else does wood do?
It floats.
What else floats?
(small rocks. Churches) Ducks.
So if she weighs the same as a duck, she must be a witch.

A couple of facts scattered here and there might help, a bit.

Were there tests of active sonar going on in the region?
Have these whales beached themselves before?
Were they sick?
Were they trapped in an area that had a large high-low tide surge?

I just see too much speculation these days (not just this post, but a general trend -
highlighted nightly on the "news" channels") without bothering to gather any actual
facts.

Hi Jerry, looks like I hit a nerve

I'm not sure I cried that they sky is falling, but I did present an
alternate explanation to seismic disturbances or temperature variations.

Keep your panties on, if you also have an alternate explanation, please
share. I, unlike some on the list, have an open mind about these things.

PS: I am pretty sure the sky is falling, a piece of it hit my driveway two
weeks ago.
