Music was first put into the car by a company that put a record player in the trunk. It let you motor along while listening to your Victrola, so the company named themselves Motorola. They went on to invent the first car radio in 1929. At the time debates were waged as to whether to make the car radio illegal because it would prove too much of a distration.
