> How can you say Israel is mostly non-religious? Because it is mostly non-religious.
> One only has to visit the official Israeli government website to tell how > non-religious Israel is. > http://www.mfa.gov.il/mfa/home.asp I see nothing on this page that indicates a great emphasis on religion > Especially apparent was the site map: > http://www.mfa.gov.il/mfa/go.asp?MFAH00040 > > You could also just look at their flag. The Star Of David is a symbol of judaism, which includes lots of non-religious jews who still identify themselves as jews. Like me for example. The vast majority of israelis are very similar to me, of jewish nationality, but not practicing any religion/ > > I think it's safe to say that Israel is VERY MUCH SO religious. Religion is > the very basis of their existence. Saying that most of Israel is > non-religious is like saying most of Saudi Arabia is non-muslim. It is PART of the basis of the countries existance. The other part is the holocaust. Most israelis do not practice the jewish religion. They are secular jews. There is a smaller portion of the population who is very religious and this group holds a great deal of power. There is a great deal of friction between the two groups as well, although I am sure this has become unimportant in the light of the war with the palestinians. Have you ever been to Israel? > This is a holy war. It's two sides in argument over whose religion is right. > It's as simple as that. No, its not. Its an argument over whether the jews have the right to live in that space without being killed and attacked. ______________________________________________________________________ Structure your ColdFusion code with Fusebox.
