> How can you say Israel is mostly non-religious?

Because it is mostly non-religious.

> One only has to visit the official Israeli government website to tell how

I see nothing on this page that indicates a great emphasis on religion

The Star Of David is a symbol of judaism, which includes lots of
non-religious jews who still identify themselves as jews. Like me for
example. The vast majority of israelis are very similar to me, of jewish
nationality, but not practicing any religion/

It is PART of the basis of the countries existance. The other part is the
holocaust.

Most israelis do not practice the jewish religion. They are secular jews.
There is a smaller portion of the population who is very religious and this
group holds a great deal of power. There is a great deal of friction
between the two groups as well, although I am sure this has become
unimportant in the light of the war with the palestinians.

Have you ever been to Israel?

> This is a holy war. It's two sides in argument over whose religion is
right.
> It's as simple as that.

No, its not. Its an argument over whether the jews have the right to live
in that space without being killed and attacked.
