No an average is simply the sum of a string of numbers divided by the total number of scores. Part of the assumption is that a proportion of the scores are below the theoretical average and part are above. For instance person has the following test scores 60%, 50%, 60% and 70%, would result in an average of 60%, or a D+ average, (60+60+50+70 = 240/4 = 60).
and since when did a good proportion mean a majority. You have a habit of leaping to conclusions unsupported by evidence. It can lead to dangling participles and dropped conclusions. :) larry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists&body=lists/cf_community Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm
