I hate guns, and from an emotional standpoint I think they should all be outlawed, but that will never happen due to our history/geography/lifestyles/etc. Looking at the issue as objectively as I can I still haven't decided which side of the fence I fall on. Unfortunately, like most things, there's rarely a middle ground. In this case, I don't think that what you are saying furthers Moore's thoughts. Yes, cars kill people and are used in crimes. Yes, criminals wear shoes and have fingerprints. The difference, at least in my mind and it may be (ha!) biased, is that guns have no legitimate purpose in the hands of those committing the crime. They are the tool that allows rage to explode into disaster. No, guns don't kill people, but they are a tool used by people. A very efficient tool. I might decide to put a nail in a piece of wood, but absent a hammer I'll have to think twice about it.
I don't know anything about the gun fingerprinting, but what did help solve this crime was the fact that the car they were sleeping in was registered to Muhammed and they were able to publish the description of it. Damn, bet he wishes he didn't have to register his car. ;) Good night, have a great weekend, so long ... I'm outta here ... :) Dan -----Original Message----- From: Lon Lentz [mailto:lonl@;eximpact.com] Sent: Friday, October 25, 2002 4:24 PM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: Michael Moore on Sniper Thank you, Mr. Moore, for your selfish and sightless insightfulness. To further Moore's ingenious, yet somewhat unConstitutional, ideals, I would like to advocate the following, to help make America become the safest country on earth. 1: When purchasing a set of tires for your vehicle, you will be required to fill out a federal form registering the new tread pattern to you and your vehicle. When that particular tread mark is found near the scene of future crimes in your area, the police will immediately come to you and ask you to prove where you were at the time of the crime. 2: Ditto for the shoes on your feet. You hear a lot of foot prints left behind at crime scenes. In fact, had shoe registration been mandated before the death of Nicole Simpson, the murderer would have been caught. 3: Fingerprints are next. Everyone must have their fingerprints stored in the FBI's computers. Besides, if you aren't a criminal, what do you have to hide? 4: Next, everyone will provide their local police department with copies of keys to their homes, vehicles, and businesses. The police must be able to freely go anywhere they want. Only in this way, can the police have the tools required to keep crime at bay. To keep terrorism from engulfing and destroying us all. Cops are the most trustworthy and honorable people on the face of this planet (followed closely by politicians). Besides, if you aren't a criminal, what do you have to hide? 5: Dental impressions will be registered as well as dna samples. Hair samples. Retina scans. Body heat patterns. Face scans. Voice patterns. (Did you know that the technology exists for producing an image of your head and face based on a voice sample? It starts by generating your voice box and then your skull, and then uses reconstruction techniques to lay the skin down.) All are presumed guilty. What do YOU have to hide? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists&body=lists/cf_community This list and all House of Fusion resources hosted by CFHosting.com.
