I think, more specifically against "Zombification" - in other words IF you're machine became a Zombie BlackIce didn't let you know as well as others. I think that Steve Gibson (excitable little guy that he is) reported on that first. That was a while ago tho' - it may very well be a non-issue at this point. I've tried them all and I have to say (suprisingly) that Norton is the best I've found. Zone Alarm worked very well, but was frustratingly unstable on my systems and BlackIce just seemed flimsly (at the time). Norton Internet Security (both AntiVirus and Firewall) seems to do the trick for my home machines... I just wish they'd me run it on Win2K server (since that's what my devlopment laptop runs).
