Both!

The people have the right to protect themselves and their state. The
state has the right to protect itself.

It is clear to me that the founding fathers intended to ensure the
people should not be overpowered by any aggressor, be it the government
or otherwise.

To protect the individuals and the sates they were allowed the right to
keep and bear arms. Should the individuals be needed to defend the
country, state, city, street, family, they would be prepared.

I have done a lot of research, and based on the numbers it is clear that
the existence of gun control does not change homicide rates. Yes point
to Canada, but look at the rates prior to the laws, the were the same,
and the rates in the US have dropped more than they have in Canada.

Look at England and Whales, were crime is the highest in the world.

So why else would the government want to take our guns, if it isn't to
stop crime then it must be to restrict our freedoms.

It is clear the founding father believed the government they created
could and should be overthrown if it were to encroach on the liberties
of the people. To ensure us that right they allowed us guns.
