I don't know how rare, or how reported these types of crimes are. I will say this though, I see more and more reports daily on gun violence in these supposedly safe European countries.
I just know that the police respond to crime, not protect us from it. The only person who can stop you from becoming a victim of these predators is yourself. I think you are both missing the point, the incident that has prompted this was a shooting incident in which two people died. It made headline news, and still is making them a week later. How many people died in the US from gun related crime in the same period and did any of the shootings make national headline news for a week? Especially (and I really do hate to say this) as the shootings were of two Black women in an area which is known for "drug wars" and street gangs? This is a rare ocurrance in the UK - thanks to tight gun laws, we don't want it to happen again so the laws will be tightened further. ----- Original Message ----- From: "William Wheatley" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, January 06, 2003 2:29 PM Subject: Re: Tighter? > What a bunch of idiots. > > They kept saying how great their laws were and all the NON gun killings. > Does anyone understand the concept that criminals dont give a rats ass about > laws? > > Thats the whole thing about being a CRIMINAL, breaking laws. > The only thing tighter laws will do is make it so its even harder for > regular people to have guns and the criminals will still have them. > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Timothy Heald" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Monday, January 06, 2003 9:15 AM > Subject: Tighter? > > > > http://www.ds-osac.org/view.cfm?key=7E475C404455&type=2B170C1E0A3A0F162820 > > > > Hehe I love the 5th paragraph: > > > > "The shootings brought into focus the availability of illegal firearms in > the UK and the willingness by criminals to use them." > > > > Timothy Heald > > Assistant Webmaster > > Overseas Security Advisory Council > > U.S. Department of State > > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Your ad could be here.
