I don't know how rare, or how reported these types of crimes are.  I will say this 
though, I see more and more reports daily on gun violence in these supposedly safe 
European countries.

I just know that the police respond to crime, not protect us from it.  The only person 
who can stop you from becoming a victim of these predators is yourself.

I think you are both missing the point, the incident that has prompted this
was a shooting incident in which two people died. It made headline news, and
still is making them a week later.

How many people died in the US from gun related crime in the same period and
did any of the shootings make national headline news for a week? Especially
(and I really do hate to say this) as the shootings were of two Black women
in an area which is known for "drug wars" and street gangs?

This is a rare ocurrance in the UK - thanks to tight gun laws, we don't want
it to happen again so the laws will be tightened further.
