Greater Manchester Police said Mr Oake had not been wearing a vest because
he was meant to be gathering information after the flat had been secured.

Police at the scene have been heavily protected against possible poison
Chief constable Michael Todd said there had been no "perceived risk" to any
of the officers

Is allegedly why he wasn't wearing armour.

:) I will comment.

A police officer in the US knows his life can end at any time and i think
almost all OFFICERS are required to wear body armour in the field. I would
think a cop in britain knows he can die anytime and should always wear his
gear.

But they probably learned a lesson in making sure offciers wear armour
