Take him to a counselor it is quite helpful and even if that doesn't help
completely a
weekly visit to see the counselor combined with some meds to help monitor
things and side affects can be helpful. I dont agree with giving KIDS meds
all the time but hes close to being an adult so hes getting near the age
where if he needed them he could use them. People seem to think jumping on
the meds thing is wrong but if you study mental illness its something that
SOMETIMES you have to have help with meds. But thats why i disagree with
giving Kids meds because they need a chance to grow up WITHOUT meds so they
can learn life without meds, how they feel, etc.

You can't just tough out mental illness, but then again might just be a
passing case of depression which may go away, but its good if he can talk to
a professional and make his own opnions about it. Its good to recognize the
signs when you are about to dive into depression if it
ever reoccurs. It can be a horrible ordeal for the person and the loved ones
but its all workable
with a little work and patience.

I wish you the best of luck and hopefully its just a passing thing.
My thoughts are with you and your son!
Good luck
